Martin McDonagh's Olivier Award-winning comedy is set in England, 1965, when hanging has just been abolished. In his small pub in northern England, Hangman Harry is something of a local celebrity. Cub reporters and pub regulars are dying to hear Harry's reaction to the news, while his old assistant Syd and the mysterious Mooney lurk with very different motives for their visit.

Director Matthew Dunster's production had a sold out run at London's Royal Court before transferring to the West End and winning an Olivier Award for Best Play. Hangmen is McDonagh's seventh Broadway play (including The Beauty Queen of Leenane and The Cripple of Inishmaan) and his return to the stage following his film Three Billboards Outside of Ebbing, Missouri.
