The London revival of Dreamgirls is headed for Bway, 35 years after the original Tony-winning production, directed and choreographed by the late Michael Bennett, captivated audiences during its initial Bway run.

The story is about a black female singing group whose career, abetted by an opportunistic show business promoter, soars as 1960s Motown music becomes popular with both white and black audiences. Ultimately, the overweight lead singer is demoted in favor of a more glamorous group member who had previously sung backup.

The show features such classic songs as "And I Am Telling You I'm Not Going," "I am Changing," and "One Night Only," as well as "Listen" from the 2006 film version. The Guardian called the show a "fantastically entertaining ride on a showbiz rollercoaster." Tony and Olivier winner Casey Nicholaw (The Book of Mormon, Aladdin, Something Rotten!) choreographs and directs.
