Renowned composer Andrew Lloyd Webber's Tony-winning musical Cats is back. Trevor Nunn directs and John Napier did the scenic and costume design. Both are Tony winners and original creative team members. Tony winner Andy Blankenbuehler (Hamilton) will choreograph, based on the original work.
Cats ran for 21 years in London and 18 years on Bway. It won seven Tonys in 1983, including Best Musical. This production is the first revival. Based on T.S. Eliot's Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats, the musical is about a tribe of cats called the Jellicles and the night they decide which cat will ascend to the "Heaviside Layer" and come back to a new life. The show introduced the song "Memory."
