The life of the legendary song-and-dance man and actor James Cagney is told by a cast of six who tap dance who tap dance through a score that blends original music with classic George M. Cohan favorites including Give My Regards to Broadway and Yankee Doodle Dandy.
The New York Times said leading man Creighton does "a fine job of recreating Cagney's gangster-vicious movie scenes" and that "when he breaks into dance...he seems born for the role." Josh Bergasse's (On the Town)choreography, especially in rousing numbers like You're a Grand Old Flag and Over There, could sell tap shoes to Tibetan monks, The Times said.
