Glenn Close reprises her role as Norma Desmond, a reclusive, aging silent-screen goddess who falls for a young writer. While she sees the opportunity to make a comeback and rise to her former glory, he's seduced by her luxurious lifestyle. The entanglement has dramatic and tragic consequences.
Close won raves for her turn in the show's London run earlier this year. The NYTimes called work in the 1995 Bway production "one of those legendary performances people will be talking about years from now." She went on to win a Tony as Best Actress and show a Tony as Best Musical.
The new production will have a 40-piece orchestra, believed to be the largest ever on Broadway.
