Children of a Lesser God

This revival of the groundbreaking play about the romantic relationship between a normal-hearing new teacher at a school for the deaf and the schools one-time star student who has avoided venturing out into the hearing world, is directed by Tony-winner Kenny Leon (A Raisin in the Sun).

When the show opened in 1980 it ran for more than two years, winning three Tonys. It was adapted into a 1986 film starring Marlee Martin, who won an Oscar for her performance, and William Hurt.

The New York Times described the play during its initial run as "deeply engaging" and the interplay between the two principal actors as "dazzlingly accomplished."
