The Lehman Trilogy

This is the true story of a family and the Wall Street company it founded--the powerhouse investment bank Lehman Brothers, which filed for the largest bankruptcy in U.S. history and helped trigger what the chair of the Federal Reserve called "the worst financial crisis in global history."

The play is told in three parts during a single evening. It covers a period of 163 years, from the three Lehman brothers' arrival in American in the mid 1800s to the collapse of their firm in 2008.

Three actors--Simon Russell Beale, Adam Godley and Ben Miles--play the Lehman brothers, their sons and grandsons as well as various minor characters. The New York Times, in its review of the London production, called the actors' performance "extraordinary" and said that it's "worth cashing in your gilt-edge securities for" a ticket to the production. The director is Sam Mendes, the celebrated film and stage director (Gypsy, The Ferryman).
