Celebrated singer-songwriter Anais Mitchell and visionary director Rachel Chavkin (Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812) have transformed Mitchell's acclaimed concept album into a genre-defying new work. It blends American folk music, gospel and vintage New Orleans jazz with an indie-pop flair, reimagining the ancient tale of Orpheus and Eurydice. Vogue called the show "your next musical theatre obsession." The show had a record-breaking run at NY Theatre Workshop and will play the UK's National Theatre before opening on Broadway.

In the warmth of summertime, Orpheus and Eurydice fall in love. But as winter approaches, reality sets in and Eurydice becomes disenchanted when Orpheus's sunny vows are not immediately kept. Tempted by the promise of plenty, Eurydice is lured to the depths of industrial Hadestown. On a quest to save her, Orpheus ventures to the underworld.
