King Lear

Glenda Jackson, who won a Tony for her acclaimed performance in Edward Albee's Three Tall Women, returns in the title role of Shakespeare's King Lear.

The renowned stage and screen actress and winner of two Oscars previously played Lear in London in an Old Vic production in 2016. It marked her return to the stage after taking a 25-year hiatus to service in Parliament.

Variety hailed the 82-year-old Jackson's portrayal of Lear as "extraordinary" and said she lets the audience see Lear as elderly and frail but also as the man he once was, acting "as if his authority is undimmed and his masculinity remained manifest."
