Time and the Conways

J.B. Priestley's powerful work about Great Britain between the wars returns to Bway for the first time since its premiere in 1938. Elizabeth McGovern is the matriarch of the family, following in the footsteps of her role as Lady Cora in "Downton Abbey."

In 1919, Mrs. Conway is full of optimism during her daughter's lavish twenty-first birthday celebration. The Great War is over, wealth is in the air, and the family's dreams bubble over like champagne. Nineteen year later, the Conways' lives have transformed unimaginably amid a combination of complacency and class arrogance that has led to Britain's decline.
